Nazarov’s Method

Biomechanical Stimulation

Biomechanical stimulation involves the application of mechanical force to human muscles to elicit psychophysiological effects. These effects serve as a foundation for muscle conditioning, enhancing joint mobility, and improving movement coordination—thereby facilitating the accelerated mastery of complex motor skills. Furthermore, this method aids in the restoration of motor function following injuries or various conditions affecting the human musculoskeletal system, with a particular focus on the spine.

About Professor V. T. Nazarov

V. T. Nazarov, the creator of the biomechanical stimulation method, was born on January 31, 1936, in Belarus. Between 1954 and 1959, he pursued a university education in human anatomy and physiology.

In 1960, he earned the title of “Master of Sports of the USSR” in artistic gymnastics. From 1962 to 1986, he taught at the Riga Polytechnic Institute. He received his doctorate in 1968 and became a professor in 1974. During this same period (1976–1992), he served as the chairman of the Scientific Council on Biomechanics at the USSR Academy of Sciences. From 1982 to 1994, he headed the Department of Biomechanics at the Minsk Academy of Sports. Following the completion of his work on a new theory of biomechanics, V. T. Nazarov focused on research concerning muscle vibration.

The first experimental gymnastic apparatus designed for muscle stimulation was developed in 1976–1977. Subsequently, this method remained classified as “top secret” for over 20 years. It only became known in the West following the political changes that took place in Russia.

In Germany, Paul Neumann, in collaboration with German physiotherapists, designed a professional massage table equipped with 10 integrated motors that provide biomechanical stimulation.

These motors are interconnected to generate oscillations along the human body. This method, known as “oscillation therapy,” can be utilized in the form of a massage. Oscillation therapy has been incorporated into both orthopedic mattresses and professional massage tables.
